Deschutes Water Alliance - Future plans for water in Deschutes Basin

Commissioner Unger convened a Deschutes Water Alliance meeting on Tuesday March 20th. We are working with those groups who have control of water use in the Deschutes Basin for future water needs in agriculture, people and the river . This group has been meeting for several years and are working towards a consensus. Eric Nigg, DEQ who attends the meeting said this is a process he has not seen in other water basins and he believes we will be successful.

County Fighting to Keep Grant Money

Tuesday, January 10th 2012 - The entire Oregon delegation in Washington, D.C. is asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to drop the request for funding reimbursement from Deschutes County. FEMA wants the money reimbursed because the County allowed private landowners to clear fire-prone materials from their property.

Members of the Deschutes Collaborative Forest project met to discuss the future of the decade long project to manage 145,000 acres of public and private land.
